India donated Remdesivir injection produced by Zydus Cadila Company to the Ministry of Health and Sports for COVID-19 treatment and the donation was organized at the Embassy of India in Yangon on the morning of 20 September.

At the ceremony, Indian Ambassador Mr Saurabh Kumar handed over the Remdesivir injections to Director-General for Department of Medical Research Professor Dr Zaw Than Htun. “These medical supplies are produced in India and are now used to treat the COVID-19 patients there. They are also used for the treatment of patients with severe or moderate COVID-19,” said Director-General Professor Dr Zaw Than Htun.

Indian Ambassador Mr Saurabh Kumar said, “The currently donated injections are produced in India and approved in line with the Indian medical rules and regulations. They are widely used in treating the patients with severe COVID-19.

 Now, the medicines are donated by Alidac Healthcare Myanmar Ltd, a subsidiary of Zydus.” The Indian government donated US$900,000 worth of medicine and medical supplies to prevent, control and treat COVID-19 in Myanmar on 6 May 2020, according to the Indian Embassy.
