MYANMAR Ambassador to Brazil U Aung Kyaw Zan visited the Butantan Institute in Brazil during a three-day working trip from 26 to 28 June as part of the Myanmar-Brazil snake antivenom production technology promotion project aimed at sending Myanmar experts to Brazil and increasing medical research activities between the two countries.
During the visit to the Butantan Institute on 26 June, a famous medical research centre specializing in the production of immune-enhancing biological drugs in Brazil, the ambassador discussed detailed matters pertaining to the project. These included improving technologies used in antivenom production in Myanmar, sending Myanmar experts to the Butantan Institute, further cooperation related to the current antivenom project, and identifying areas for increased collaboration in other medical research fields.
In addition, the ambassador met Mr Roberto Mateus Ordine, Chairperson of the Associação Comercial de São Paulo (ACSP), at the ACSP building in São Paulo. They discussed exchanging information and facilitating business deals between businesspeople from Myanmar and Brazil, as well as organizing an online discussion in a B2B format to enhance cooperation in investment activities.
The discussion also covered the implementation of projects as per the terms agreed upon in the Memorandum of Understanding between the Union of Myanmar Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and Brazil’s ACSP. Also present at the meeting was Mr Ricardo Cateb Cury It DM, Honorary Consul-General of Myanmar, based in the city of São Paulo.
Similarly, during the three-day trip, the Myanmar ambassador attended the Global Agribusiness Forum and the Global Agribusiness Festival as a special guest at the invitation of a famous Brazilian agricultural consulting organization (DATAGRO), along with the ambassadors of Uruguay, Kenya, Suriname, and Botswana based in Brasilia.
