UNDER the oversight of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat illicit trade are effectively underway in compliance with the law.

On 28 June, a combined team led by the Customs Department conducted inspections at Yangon International Airport, seizing 42 bottles of undeclared perfume valued at K1.45 million.

Similarly, on 29 June, a combined team managed by the Mon State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized 4,130 gallons of gasoline (worth approximately K45.43 million) from 98 barrels near the Uttran River banks. Authorities are investigating under the Oil and Petroleum Products Law.

Also, on 29 June, at the Shwe Thanlwin checkpoint in Phayagyi Town, the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections, confiscating items including 1,150 kilogrammes of apples and 272 kilogrammes of oranges from China (valued at K8.67 million). Four Toyota HiAce vehicles transporting these goods (estimated value K80 million) were also seized. Proper customs procedures were followed.

On the same day, the Ayeyawady Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force seized a circular saw and related items (worth K500,000) used in illegal logging in Ingapu Township, Myanaung District. Legal action has been initiated.

Additionally, on 30 June, the Kachin State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force conducted inspections, seizing unlicensed vehicles, including Honda Fit, Toyota Crown, Lexus, and others (estimated value K98.7 million), along with ten unlicensed motorcycles (including a Shayan-125 and Yunde-110, valued at K4.7 million). Legal measures are followed.

Overall, between 28 and 30 June, the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 14 arrests, with items seized totalling approximately K239.457 million.
