THE Myanmar Police Force reported the seizure of 500 kilogrammes of Ice (methamphetamine) and 200 kilogrammes of ketamine, valued at K5.7 billion, in Kengtung Township, Shan State (East).
A combined team from the Anti-Drug Police Force stopped a Toyota Hilux heading from Kengtung to Tachilek at the junction of the detour and Kengtung-Tachilek road in Kengtung Township at 2 pm on 8 June. The driver attempted to flee, resulting in the vehicle overturning near Gyophyu village. The police arrested Myo Ko (aka) Myo Gyi, who was with the driver, but the driver escaped.
Upon searching the overturned vehicle, the police found 500 kilogrammes of Ice (methamphetamine) and 200 kilogrammes of ketamine. Following interrogation, they arrested Htet Kyi Soe, the car owner and accomplice in the drug transport, at his house in Ward 3, Kengtung.
Further investigation led to the seizure of a 10-wheel Nissan Diesel vehicle used to transport the drugs from Kunhing to Kengtung. This vehicle was found in front of the bus station compound in Yanlaw village, Kengtung Township. It was discovered that the drugs were intended to be transported from Kunhing to Tachilek.
Legal action has been initiated against the offenders, and an ongoing investigation is underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the case.
