Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stressed the need to wipe out terrorists in Yangon Region.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered a speech, as mentioned at the meeting on peace and stability and development of Yangon Region at Konmyinttha yesterday afternoon.

In his address, the Senior General underscored that as terrorists attempt to commit terror acts, taking a chance in unguarded moments of security forces, individuals have to monitor the movements of terrorists with security awareness and knowledge to ensure peace and stability.

He instructed the military command and regional government to coordinate measures to be taken for peace, stability and development of Yangon Region.

He noted that those who lack knowledge to analyze good and bad things can commit crimes, so it is necessary to raise the understanding and critical thinking of the people through the release of true information in various ways and means.

Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Zaw Hein reported on efforts to take peace, stability and security measures in the region, welfare for security forces and beautification in military stations.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented endeavours for the betterment of road transport, beautifying Yangon City, and operation of agriculture and livestock zones.

Council Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo explained that it is necessary to take care of peace and stability as well as security measures, systematic functions of checkpoints, the requirement of stabilizing prices of gold and foreign currencies, systematic eradication of narcotic drugs, and preventive activities against those who undermine peace and stability.

The Senior General stressed the need to disseminate stipulations to the people of the region through media. Traffic rules must be enforced under discipline. Agriculture and livestock tasks must be operated at allotted lands systematically. Public participation plays a key role in growing trees in the vacant lands for greening the environment as well as for ensuring peace and stability in Yangon Region.

Also present at the ceremony were Council members Admiral Tin Aung San and Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, Union ministers, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Yangon Mayor, ministers of the regional governments, and departmental officials.
