THE final game plus awarding event for the 2024 Inter-State & Region Judo Championship was conducted at Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium A in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

State Administration Council members and officials enjoyed the final match played between the Kachin State team and the Ayeyawady Region team. Next, an awarding ceremony was held, and Union Ministers U Min Thein Zan, U Aung Kyaw Hoe and U Ko Ko Hlaing presented awards to first, second and third-prize winners of the 42 and 45-kilogramme women’s individual Judo events and 50-kilo men’s individual Judo events.

Afterwards, State Administration Council Member U Yan Kyaw presented awards to the first, second and third-prize winners in the 55-kilo men’s individual event.

State Administration Council Member U Shwe Kyein then presented medals to the firstplaced Ayeyawady team, second-placed Kachin State team and joint third-placed Mandalay and Yangon Region teams.

Likewise, State Administration Council Member Dr Ba Shwe presented medals and cash awards to the best male and female athletes. Similarly, State Administration Council Members Dr Hmu Thang and Porel Aung Thein presented trophies to the winners of the Kachin State team for the women’s event and the Yangon Region team for the men’s event. State Administration Council Member Daw Dwe Bu also gave the championship trophy to the overall event winner, the Kachin State team.

A total of 269 athletes from 30 teams — 15 men’s teams and 15 women’s teams — competed in the tourney, which is aimed to promote the Judo sports across the nations and was held from 4 to 7 June.
