AS per the Ministry of Labour, decisive measures will be taken against overseas employment agencies found to have deceitfully submitted entries and accounts to evade tax payments.
These agencies are obligated to pay taxes based on the taxable income rates determined by the Department of Labour, in accordance with the number of workers dispatched overseas.
Verification of accounts for the 2023-2024 financial year is underway, and firms yet to settle their taxes will face suspension from sending migrant workers abroad until their outstanding taxes are paid.
Furthermore, notices have been issued to 12 companies with outstanding tax payments from the 2022-2023 financial year. —TWA/TKO
