IN order to meet and exceed the national export targets, the Ministry of Commerce has set targets for each item of export by month in the financial year.
Maize export target for the first quarter of this financial year, April, May and June, is 380,000 tonnes. According to the statistics, up to the end of May 2024, 478,000 tonnes of corn were actually exported, exceeding the target.
Also, emphasis is being placed on meeting and exceeding the June target. According to the 5 June 2024 list, 14 ships to export corn are docked at international ports.
A total of 221,330 tonnes of maize, including 32,058 tonnes of maize from Ahlon International Port terminal, 9,500 tonnes from Yangon International Gateway Terminal, 36,500 tonnes from Myanmar Industrial Port, 20,672 tonnes from Sule Pagoda Wharves, 25,000 tonnes from The Myanmar Terminal, 27,500 tonnes from Myanmar International Terminal Thilawa. 26,000 tonnes from Myanmar Integrated Port Limited, 11,000 tonnes of corn from Wilmar International Port Terminal, 25,000 tonnes from Thilawa Multipurpose International Terminal, 2,700 tonnes from Shwemee, and 5,400 tonnes of corn from Min Htet Min Terminal Port will be exported.
In addition, as the export of corn from February to the end of August is allowed to be duty-free from the neighbouring country of Thailand, the Myanmar Maize Entrepreneurs Association is pushing for the timely export of corn seed products until the end of August this year.
