TATMADAW and Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMR) jointly organized the virtual conference on prevention of child recruitments on 24 August, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.

The virtual meeting was attended by Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) Let-Gen Myo Zaw Thein and Tatmadaw senior officers, CTFMR co-chairs UN Resident Coordinator for Myanmar Mr Ola Almgren and UNCEF Myanmar Representative Ms June Kunugi and officials.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation and ongoing tasks between Myanmar Tatmadaw and the CTFMR after Myanmar Tatamdaw was delisted on 15 June 2020 from the United Nations Secretary General’s annual report on Children in Armed Conflict as an entity that recruits child soldiers for combat roles.
