UNION Election Commission Chairman U Hla Thein received representatives of local civil society organizations at his office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

The representatives discussed voter education, activities for effective election observation and a possible scheme to strengthen cooperation among the UEC, its local offices and CSOs.

The chairman and officials of UEC explained the preparations and possible facilitations of observations.

The representatives at the meeting were from the Generation Tree, Myanmar Independent Living Initiative, Myanmar Network for Free and Fair Election, Panna Institute, Kadu Youth Development Association, Rainmaker Organization, New Myanmar Foundation, Civic Development Institute and Bago Observer Group.
