TO enhance the production and export of Myanmar’s aquatic products, promote private sector investment, and address the agricultural needs, Dr Aung Gyi, the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, made field trips in the Yangon Region on 4 November.

The Deputy Minister inspected processing of crab and shrimp products at the cold storage of Gallant Ocean Trading Co Ltd in Hlinethaya Township. The inspection focused on ensuring the safety of consumers, and discussions were held regarding the strict adherence to export standards.

They also visited the VMS Sub-Control Centre in Insein Township. The deputy minister instructed officials to supervise installation of VMS at offshore fishing vessels and use of TeDs at offshore trawlers is necessary. He also urged officials to lecture VMS instructions to offshore fishermen courses.

At the office of the Myanmar Fisheries Federation in Insein Township, Yangon, the deputy minister met with federation officials.

They discussed sufficiency of fish and meat, conservation and expanded farming of domestic fish species, seeking a robust domestic market, and the expansion of overseas markets. Furthermore, they focused on emphasis to be placed on farming tasks rather than capturing fish resources.
