THE second day of the Myanmar Dental Health Science Conference 2023 continued at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II (MICC-II) in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. On the second day of the conference, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win presented certificates of appreciation to the chairperson and speakers of the conference.

On the same day, Deputy Minister for Health Prof Dr Aye Tun attended the signing ceremony to extend an MoU between Myanmar and the Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, Thailand to exchange medical knowledge, and academic methods and to strengthen collaboration for research on dental health.

Similarly, on the first day of the conference, the Union Minister for Health also attended a ceremony to sign an MoU to exchange medical knowledge on cleft lip and palate surgeries between the Department of Medical Services under the Ministry of Health and the Korean University of Medicine, the ROK.

In addition, on the second day of the conference, professors from the Korean University of Medicine, Republic of Korea shared knowledge on dental implant treatments and a professor from the Japan Heart Foundation, Japan discussed cleft lip and palate surgeries followed by a discussion of face, jaw and oral surgeries contributed by a surgeon of the International Medical University, Malaysia.

Similarly, Myanmar Dental Council Chairman Prof Dr Paing Soe and a member of the council Prof Dr Myo Win discussed the ethics of dentists while Prof Dr Aung Thu Hein, Prof Dr Zaw Moe Hein, Prof Dr Aung Thein Tun, Prof Dr Kyaw Tint, Prof Dr Ko Ko Soe and Prof Dr Aung Win from the University of Dental Medicine (Mandalay) as well as Prof Dr Hla Myo Naing from the University of Medicine (1) Yangon gave lectures on jaw and oral medicine. Prof Dr Zaw Win Tun of Defence Services Medical Academy and Prof Dr Tun Ngwe of the University of Dental Medicine (Mandalay) held discussions on jaw and oral medicine.
The theme of the Myanmar Dental Health Science Conference 2023 organized by the Ministry of Health is “Quality Dental Care for Community” and 25 parallel sessions of paper reading were conducted on the second day.
