MEDICAL specialists from both the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Team and the Ministry of Health Mobile Medical Team, along with medics and nurses, have departed aboard the Tatmadaw seagoing hospital ship (Thanlwin) from Yangon Region’s Coco Island Township. Their mission is to provide healthcare services to the local people in the surrounding villages of Haigyi Island, as well as the townships and villages along the Rakhine coast and Ayeyawady Region.

Yesterday afternoon, they embarked from Naval Jetty No 3 in Thilawa, Yangon. Senior officers and members of the Tatmadaw (Navy) extended their well-wishes to the team before departure.

Specialists from the Tatmadaw and the Ministry of Health, including paramedics, nursing officers, military nurses, are accompanying the Navy Hospital Ship (Thanlwin) on a mission to provide surgical treatments and healthcare services to the residents of the villages surrounding Haigyi Island in Irrawaddy Region and the townships along the Rakhine coast. The services will cover surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, children’s diseases, bone diseases, eye diseases, ear/nose/throat diseases, dental diseases, and general illnesses. Diagnostic and treatment facilities such as ECG machines and x-ray machines will be available on board, and laboratory tests will also be conducted.
