THE steering committee for successful holding of centenary for Myanmar’s motion picture industry organized a coordination meeting at the Mingalar Hall of Yangon Region Government in Yangon yesterday.

The meeting was attended by the steering committee’s chairman and Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint and members, sub-committees chairpersons and members, officials from broadcasting media and movie theatres, and guests.

Speaking at the event, the Union Minister said since May last year arrangements for Myanmar film industry’s centenary celebration had been made.

The centenary celebration is scheduled to be organized on 13 October following the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports despite COVID-19 restrictions at present, he said.

He asked the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization (MMPO) patrons and officials to give suggestions on arrangements and courses of actions for organizing the centenary event.

Relevant sub-committees have been formed for the centenary celebration, and it is crucial to work on sector-wise procedures, he added.

He also discussed the formation of a working group so that sub-committees, working committee and steering committee can effectively cooperate.

The steering committee secretary and Information and Public Relations Department Acting Director-General U Aye Kywe reported the steering committee works and arrangements for the centenary celebration.

The steering committee member Yangon Region Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Win Tint and Development Affairs Minister U Maung Maung Soe, MMPO’s patrons U Kyi Soe Tun, U Aung Lwin, U Hnin Moe, U Aung Myint Myat and U Soe Moe, Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) Director-General U Ye Naing, sub-committees chairpersons and secretaries, and broadcasting department officials discussed the matters related to the centenary celebrations, showing classic movies, organizing paper-reading sessions, the publication of the centenary magazine, displays of booths, and conducting public awareness activities. The meeting was concluded following the Union Minister’s remarks.
