E-Government is a must for the country in Digital Transformation

THE Ministry of Transport and Communications organized a “Consultative Workshop on Myanmar e-Governance Master Plan 2030 (draft)” in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Speaking at the event, State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo said that the countries all over the world emphasize the Digital Transformation in administration, education, health and social sectors. Therefore, e-Government is a must for the country in Digital Transformation. The country also achieves E-Government Development Index (EGDI) values. It ranked 169 out of 193 member countries of the UN in 2016 and reached 134 in 2022. Therefore, it should maintain such prominent achievements.

In leading to Digital Government, it should set up the National Strategic Vision. The new Myanmar e-Governance Master Plan 2030 is drafted amending the former e-Governance Master Plan to keep abreast of the Digital World and New Digital trends.

In the draft, the goals, aims, strategies and frameworks have been developed and the action plans to be carried out in the short and long-term period until 2030, technical infrastructure that should be built and ICT Law, policy, guideline and norms that should be drafted are fully added.

He continued that the systematic measures can support the implementation of nine objectives of SAC, and achieve progresses in Digital Economy that comprises of sustainable, innovative and all-inclusive chances including the integration of international/ASEAN community.

After that, the Director of e-Government Division of the Information Technology and Cyber Security Department reported on work programmes stated in the draft and the Chief Information Officers (CIO) of Government Organizations made proper recommendations.
