The Road Transport Administration Department has reported a noteworthy milestone, with the registration count of private electric vehicles reaching an impressive total of 579. This surge in registrations occurred during the period of importing EVs from overseas throughout the month of July.
In an effort to bolster the electric vehicle sector, the Steering Committee on National-Level Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Industries has made a significant move by slashing tax rates for electric vehicles to a remarkable zero per cent. This strategic manoeuvre aims to stimulate growth and adoption within the EV industry.
Notably, the registration window for electric two-wheelers and tricycles has been extended, allowing for the registration of 2,454 units until the close of July. This extension reflects the ongoing commitment to encouraging diverse modes of electric transport.
The Road Transport Administration Department has further announced that the utilization of a diverse range of 3,033 EVs has received official approval up to this point. This underscores the growing importance of electric vehicles in the broader transport landscape.
