RAKHINE State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, along with deputy ministers and state officials, visited the IDP camps in Sittway Township and provided them with essential supplies. They also inspected the distribution of relief and rehabilitation materials at the multi-purpose port.
During the visit, the chief minister attended a ceremony for the distribution of rice aid to the IDP camps, expressing his appreciation for the camp leaders’ commendable efforts in managing the camps. He also thanked the camp officials for their cooperation with the government before the cyclone, which caused significant damage in the state. The chief minister emphasized the fair distribution of rice aid and addressed specific needs as required.
They also visited various IDP camps, including Thechaung, Dahpine, Thetkepyin, Mawthinya, and Basara, providing rice aid to each camp. They inspected the cyclone shelter in Thechaung village and gave necessary instructions.
In Gaungdukka village, the chief minister met camp officials at the village administration office and attended the rice ration distribution ceremony. He highlighted the ongoing restoration works, including aid and relief distribution, agricultural and livestock activities, fishing business expansion, camp cleanliness maintenance, and efforts in the education and health sectors.
Overall, the Rakhine state government provided 1,400 bags of rice to the people living in the IDP camps in Sittway Township. The chief minister and his team also inspected relief materials for use in rehabilitation efforts at the multi-purpose port in Sittway.
Additionally, they visited the Myanma Port Authority’s Phaungtawgyi port, where they inspected the loading of goods from various regions and states onto large ships.
The government’s initiatives in providing aid and support to the IDP camps demonstrate their commitment to assisting those affected by the cyclone and working towards restoring normality and stability in the region.
