A seminar organized by the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies under the auspices of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) on non-traditional security matters among Mekong-Lancang Countries was held on 14 July 2023 at Chatrium Hotel in Yangon. Members of the Myanmar-ISIS, professors and research fellows from respective Think Tanks of Cambodia, Laos, Viet Nam, Thailand and China participated in the seminar.

On the occasion, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Myo Htut delivered a welcome remark. Afterwards, Mr Chen Hai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar made a statement on Mekong-Lancang Cooperation. Consequently, the chairman of the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies made his opening remarks.

Frank and open discussions were held to address combatting terrorism, human trafficking-related online gambling and scamming, cybercrime, food security and extreme poverty reduction with a view to finding possible areas and mechanisms for further cooperation.
