RAKHINE State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, in his capacity as Chairman of Rakhine State Disaster Management Committee, inspected ongoing repairs and completed maintenance of Cyclone Mocha-hit lecture halls and dormitories of Sittway University yesterday.

Then, the Chief Minister and party met with the rector, faculty members and officials of construction companies at the meeting hall of the University.

At noon, the Chief Minister attended the cash donation ceremony at Rakhine State government office. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister received K11 million donated by Rakhine State oil mill entrepreneurs.

At the coordination meeting on rehabilitation processes, the Chief Minister offers instructions regarding the completed work plans, ongoing working processes and progress in rehabilitation measures.

The Ministry of Electric Power is making efforts in repairing the Mocha-hit power grids and sub-stations in northern part of Rakhine State. Currently, the power is redistributed to some wards and villages of Sittway, Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, MraukU, Minbya and Myebon townships starting 7, 18 and 23 June.

Moreover, the 66kV Ponnagyun-Rathedaung power cable and 33kV Minbya-Pauktaw power cable maintenance works are fully completed on 5 July. Therefore, the power distribution resumed for 2,097 users of four wards and one village using 2011/0.4kV transformers of 11kV (3) feeder of 66/11kV 5MVA Rathedaung sub-power station in the same afternoon and for 2,248 users of five wards using 22 11/0.4kV transformers of 11kV feeder (2) of 33/11kV 5MVA Pauktaw sub-power station in the same evening.

Currently, the power system has resumed in eight townships out of ten that were seriously hit by Mocha and the Ministry of Electric Power is also trying to maintain the destroyed power grid, sub-stations and related materials to supply power to the remaining two townships as quickly as possible.
