1. Laboratory results of the National Health Laboratory (Yangon) on specimen from a total of 82 persons under investigation and quarantined persons at 9 pm 29 March 2020 has shown two positive cases of Covid-19 (Table 1), and the remaining 80 persons were tested negative.


2. The positive patient (Case-09) is the 44-year old man of Myanmar citizen living in Pale Myothit of Mingalardon Township in Yangon Region. He returned to Myanmar from Thailand via Myawady border town on 23 March 2020, and he arrived back to Mingalardon Township on 26 March 2020. He began suffering fever and cough on 26 March 2020, and was admitted to People’s Hospital in Pale Myothit as a person under investigation. His specimens were sent to the laboratory and transferred to the Waibargi Special Hospital for medical treatments.


3. The positive patient (Case 10) is the 45-year old man of Myanmar citizen living in Mingalar Taungnyunt Township. He was closely contact with the positive patient (Case 05), and that he was taken to Waibargi Special Hospital for hospital quarantine on 28 March 2020 and his specimens were tested in the laboratory. He will be given medical treatments at the Waibargi hospital.


4. Both of these two positive patients are in good health conditions.


5. As Myanmar has found Covid-19 positive cases, persons in close contacts with these patients are under investigations, and restrictions are being placed. People are advised to strictly follow the awareness of the Ministry of Health and Sports.
