A very severe cyclonic storm Mocha crossed the Rakhine coastal areas near Sittway on 14 May, causing damage and loss in the area, and 17 townships in Rakhine State were declared as natural disaster-affected areas.

Fuels needed for emergency management, response, relief, and rehabilitation activities in these areas were provided by the Fuel Import, Storage, and Distribution Supervisory Committee under the guidance of the National Disaster Management Committee, the Centre for Disaster Management, the Central Committee on Ensuring Smooth Flow of Tradeand Goods, and the Ministry of Energy.

On 16 May, 200,000 gallons of premium diesel oil were transported by the MT Zabutasaung oil tanker ship and arrived at Shwe Mingan Port in Sittway. Unloading and distribution activities have been carried out, and an oil tanker sent from Thilawa has also entered Sittway. In addition, 250,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 200,000 gallons of 92 Ron petrol were also conveyed from Yangon's Thilawa port by the MT Khine Khine Phyo-33 and MT Khine Khine Phyo-34 coastal oil tankers. As they will arrive in Sittway within a few days, there will not be any shortage of fuel oil.

Systematic supervision is being carried out by the Fuel Import, Storage, and Distribution Supervisory Committee to stabilize the fuel price and to continuously replenish the fuel needed for fuel outlets, rescue, and relocation activities in Rakhine State.
