THE Kayah State government has formed various task forces to monitor entry/exit checkpoints to cities and at borders to prevent the spread of COVID-19 into the state. The task forces also monitor border crossings for nationals returning through illegal means, and ensuring returnees go into facility quarantine for 14 days upon returning to their hometown.
The Kayah State Chief Minister, L Phaung Sho, inspected the areas where anti-COVID-19 measures were being implemented to ensure practical implementations on the ground adhere to designated strategies, to provide necessary support, health protection and facilities.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by the State Minister for Development Affairs and Social Affairs, the State Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, the state government’s secretary, district/township administrators, officials from the public health and medical services department and other relevant departments.
In Kayah State, Shadaw Township has BP(9) border checkpoint, Ywathit Township has BP(10), and Meisei Township has BP(13) and BP(14) that pass over to Thailand. Authorities are monitoring these borders for entry by land or water and performing health checks and the Chief Minister inspected the borders and the facilities quarantine preparations in Bawlake Township.
At the facilities quarantine area, the Chief Minister met with 4 women who returned from Thailand and Singapore and inquired about their accommodation. He also visited Bawlake Township General Hospital where two monks returning from Thailand are quarantined.
