PHASE 1 of the Public Rental Housing Project (Yangon) developed on 171 acres of land near Laydauntkan Village in Dagon Myothit (South) Township of Yangon Region will be completed in the coming financial year.
The Public Rental Housing Project (Yangon) is implemented using the State budget and the Ministry of Construction carried out Phase 1 of the project. Under the supervision of the Urban and Housing Development Department, 194 buildings containing 3,104 apartments — 97 buildings each by MCEF (Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Federation) and MLCA (Myanmar Licenced Contractors Association) are constructed. Being a state-owned rental housing, it will be convenient for persons of low income, retired civil servants, employees nearing retirement age and low-paid company staff.
“Being a public rental system, the government develops the housing using its fund for the public to save their rental fees. Therefore, government employees and people can apply for apartments. We complete 97 buildings and return 27 buildings to the Department of Urban and Housing Development,” said Secretary General U Myo Myint of MCEF.
Of 97 buildings constructed by MCEF, 56 buildings are slated to complete by the end of March. The construction of 97 buildings has completes by 75 per cent and basic infrastructure such as roads, and box culverts and the cleansing process have completed by 93 per cent, according to the Public Rental Housing Project (Yangon) site.
“The Yangon Region government invites tender for electricity and is construction power substation. The Department of Urban and Housing Development will also negotiate with YRTC (Yangon Region Transport Committee) to facilitate the transportation of the residents,” he added.
The Public Rental Housing Project (Yangon) is located between the No 2 and No 7 highways and the people can live with the urban development of Yangon and the proper transport system in future.
