THE team comprising of the officials and diplomats of ASEAN countries, China, India and Bangladesh embassies and representatives of the AHA Centre led by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing in his capacity as Vice-Chairman 1 of the Rakhine State Stability, Peace and Development Work Coordination Committee arrived in Sittway Township by flight from Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Then, Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, Deputy Minister for Border Affairs MajGen Khun Thant Zaw Htoo, state cabinet members and departmental officials held a meeting on reception of Rakhine internally displaced persons at the guest hall of the state government.

After the opening remark of the International Cooperation Union Minister, officials from the Ministry of Border Affairs, Ministry of Immigration and Population, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and Rakhine State government reported on the arrangements for the repatriation of Rakhine internally displaced persons, pilot project and assistance to IDP camps.

Then, the Union minister and party inspected the Ngakhuya reception centre in Maungtaw Township and stressed the necessary instructions to the in charge of the centre.

They also observed the twoday-a-week schooling system of Ngakhuya Basic Education High School in the 2023-2024 academic year and basic tailoring and crochet courses launched by the Rakhine State Small-Scale Industry Department under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development.

The Union minister and party also inspected the Hlaphoekhaung temporary transit centre, Thechaung market, Darpaing and Thetkepyin IDP camps in Sittway Township.
