THE State Administration Council released the Political Parties Registration Law 2023 as the State Administration Council Law No 15/2023 on 26 January for the formation of political parties in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

The Union Election Commission released the rules for the registration of political parties through Notification No 10/2023 while Announcements No 2/2023 and 3/2023 regarding the right to establish and continue the establishment and registration of political parties were issued on 31 January 2023.

Under Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, the Union Democracy Party, which is desirous of organizing a political party, yesterday applied for permission to establish a political party under the law and rules, and the Union Election Commission is processing further verification.
