UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, in order to effectively prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law, inspections were carried out under the arrangements of the Customs Department.
Elevator accessories (estimated value of K4,515,000) in the airport warehouse without licence were seized at the Yangon International Airport on 16 December.
On 17 December, a container containing more electrical accessories (estimated value of K25.62 million) more than the declared import declaration form (ID) was found at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station. A total of (estimated value of K30,135,000) was seized and action is taken in accordance with customs procedures.
Similarly, on 17 December, a combined inspection team conducted inspections at the Tadakyo combined checkpoint under the management of the Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force.
Edible oil and fuel which did not pay custom duty on one vehicle (estimated value of K5 million) and one Toyota Noah vehicle carrying these goods (estimated value of K25 million) and net value of (approximately K30 million) was seized and action is taken in accordance with customs procedures.
Also, combined inspection teams led by the Regional Forest Department conducted inspections under the management of the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force.
A total of 1.8816 tonnes (estimated value of K652,110) of various types of illegal timber were seized in Toungoo District, and action is taken in accordance with the Forest Law.
Therefore, nine arrests on 16 and 17 December were seized (with estimated value of K60,787,110) according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
