AN opening ceremony of the training course on hotel servic­es was held yesterday morning at the Mingala Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw.

The course was organized and supervised by the Nay Pyi Taw Hotel Entrepreneurs Asso­ciation, and Union Minister Dr Htay Aung attended the opening ceremony.

Departmental officials, re­sponsible persons from the Nay Pyi Taw Hotel Entrepreneurs Association, Hotel operators, fa­cilitators and trainees attended the event.

At the event, the Union minister said that since the hotel and tourism industry is a service-based industry, it is im­portant to improve the quality of hotel service sectors.

It is necessary to create a place that can meet the needs of visitors. In the tourism industry, guest satisfaction is important, so they need to be trained to fulfil these qualities, the Union minis­ter said.

In the course that will be opened today, four subjects re­lated to hotel services will be taught, so the participants are encouraged to try and learn so that they can be usefully applied in the practical field, he said.

After that, the associate secretary of Nay Pyi Taw Hotel Operators Association explained how the training was done and the objectives of the training, and the Union minister and officials toured the training.

A total of 45 attendees joined the course that will provide the­ories and practices of four sub­jects: reception services, food and beverage catering, arrangement, and bedroom maintenance for two months.

In addition, the Union minis­ter observed the organic vegeta­bles and fruits, hotel services and solar energy deployment plans and encourage staff to strive to become quality products.

The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is making efforts for the systematic long-term devel­opment of Myanmar’s tourism industry and developing the qual­ity of operators in the hotel and travel industry. With the aim of increasing employment oppor­tunities and per capita income and reducing poverty through tourism, hotel and travel service courses and language courses are continuously being opened in various regions, states and Nay Pyi Taw.
