UNDER the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.
Multi-team inspections were carried out at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station on 17 June.
Unregistered garment products at estimated value of K17.866 million were seized and action is being taken in accordance with customs procedures.
Similarly, on 18 June, a combined inspection team under the management of the AntiIllicit Trade Task Force conducted patrol in Bhamo Township. Acting on tip-off, a wooden boat at estimated value of K900,000 and gold mining equipment worth about K100,000), totalling K1 million were seized among the trees near Moesein island of Manmalin village in Bhamo Township and action is being taken in accordance with Myanmar Mining Law.
Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the Region Forest Department conducted patrol under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force and arrested 5.5144 tonnes of illegal teak timbers at estimated value of K3,639,504 in Bago Region on 19 June and action is being taken in accordance with the forest law.
Therefore, a total of three arrests at estimated value of K22,505,504 were made on three consecutive days from 17 to 19 June according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
