UNION Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay accompanied by officials inspected the Mingala Yankin Public Rental Housing Project, Field No 506, Yaykyimyauk Field, Shindawgon Village-Tract, Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region yesterday morning.

The Mandalay Region Urban and Housing Development Department director clarified the working processes of urban planning by the financial year, water purification system, completion of electrical works, action plans for the future, funding for the project, housing project, water supply, access to the electricity and planting of shade trees.

Officials then provided information on housing projects, completion of the project, and activities to be implemented.

According to the needs of the project, the situation of infrastructure work and financial matters were also discussed and the regional minister for Natural Resources explained it in detail.

The Union minister called on low-income people, civil servants and retired civil servants and said that the ministry is aiming to facilitate staff living and local employment opportunities.

Housing projects are being implemented in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay, he said.

Timely completion of works is important and we need to focus on meeting quality standards, the Union minister added.

Now, the Department of Urban and Housing Development from the Ministry of Construction, and the Myanmar Urban and Infrastructure Development Entrepreneurs Association jointly implement the project.

Of the 3,008 Units and 188 buildings, the implementation of the first phase includes 91 buildings and 1,456 Units.

Difficulties encountered during the operation and financial matters will be discussed with the regional government and coordinated with relevant ministries, the Union minister continued.

Priority should be given to access to electricity, water and the planting of shade trees in the housing project, he said.

He instructed them to work together for the successful completion of the housing project and inspected the construction projects and the ongoing housing projects.

Each room in the Mingala Yankin Public Rental Housing Project has a living room and a kitchen, two bedrooms, 188 four-Unit and five-storey buildings with kitchens. Of the 3,008 Units, Phase 1 consists of 91 buildings and 1,456 Units are being implemented.

Ninety per cent of the 91 buildings are completed, officials said.
