UNION Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi inspected Block 8 of the Hline Yoma mountain forest reserve in Taikgyi Township of Yangon Region yesterday

During the visit, the Union minister instructed the need to develop forest coverage in Yangon Region, conserve forest reserve, expand the forest reserve area and protected land area, establish mangrove plantations and conserve the natural forest and biodiversity. Then, he also viewed the 50- type wood plantation including teak, ironwood, Mahogany and Thingan.

Then, the Union minister went to the AFoCO Regional Education and Training Centre in Hmawby Township and instructed the necessary things. He also checked the classrooms, labs, sports hall, dormitories, meeting hall, Orchid tissue culture laboratory and teak culture laboratory of the Central Forestry Development Training Centre.

At noon, the Union minister arrived at the waste-to-energy plant in Hlawga in Shwepyitha Township. The plant burns 60 tonnes of garbage per day to generate 760 kW. Among the production rate, 400 kW is used for the plant and the remaining 300 kW is transmitted per day.
