THE Ministry of Commerce manages imports of accessories related to prevention, control and treatment activities of COVID-19 through trading posts, international airport and seaports with standard operation procedures.
On 23 October, various items of anti-COVID-19 equipment were imported by a company using a bowser.
A total of 20 tonnes of liquid oxygen carried by bowser led to Yangon via Myawady border gate.
From 1 to 23 October, 65 companies were allowed to use 150 vehicles to transport 273 tonnes of liquid oxygen in bowsers, two oxygen storage containers, three oxygen distributors, 14,521 empty oxygen cylinders, 46 oxygen plants, four oxygen refilling machines, 16 oxygen generators, 1,699 oxygen concentrators for home use, 15,105 test kits, 168,325 PPE suits, 67 tonnes of gloves and 597 tonnes of masks.
During the same period, among 14 bowsers, 11 rolled on to Yangon and three to Mandalay.
Out of 46 oxygen plants, 32 were transported to Yangon, two to Myitkyina, two to Kume, two to Loikaw and one each to Mandalay, Homalin, Kyondoe, Sinbaungwe, Mindon, Thayet, Salin and Pwintbyu.
Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the import process.
It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with relevant departments, treatment of COVID-19, as well as contact persons for inquiries can be reached through the Ministry’s Website—www.commerce. gov.mm.
