THE Department of Fisheries inaugurated the sustainable coastal fisheries project office building in Pyinphyumaw Village in Kyaukpyu Township, Rakhine State yesterday morning. The office building was built with the collaboration of Denmark for the fishers in coastal regions.

The people of Pyinphyumaw Village in Kyaukpyu Township are mainly engaged in marine fisheries. By constructing the facility, local fishers will be provided with vocational training by the Department of Fisheries during the non-fishing season. At the facility, they will be offered mushroom cultivation training, sewing and homebased handicrafts such as wiring training.

At present, there are only three fisheries project office buildings in Rakhine State, two in Sittway and one office in Kyaukpyu, according to the District Fisheries Department.
