UNION MINISTER for Electricity and Energy U Win Khaing attended the stake-driving ceremony of the National Oil and Gas Information Centre to be built by the Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.

The ceremony was held in accordance with the COVID-19 regulations and attended by the Deputy Ministers, the Permanent Secretary and departmental officials.

During the ceremony, Union Minister said the MOGE was conducting oil and gas exploration to meet the demand for oil and natural gas and explained the reason for building the National Oil and Gas Information Centre.

The (first phase) three-storey RC building is going to be built with the 2020-2021 Financial Year Capital Expenditure of the MOGE under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy and aimed to maintain the oil and gas reserves data and laboratory samples for oil exploration and to drill with upgraded IT system; to ensure timely management in the event of natural disasters and to prevent harm to people and the environment; to perform realtime data monitoring and management with centralized control in activities relating to oil and gas exploration, drilling, production, shipping, distributing and selling and to speed up transportation and distribution activities.

Union Minister said the realtime data will be available on both fibre network and internet network upon the completion of the centre for monitoring and managing and, information on oil and gas control/distribution centres can be viewed directly from Nay Pyi Taw head office.

The centre will provide the control with SCADA System, information of inland and offshore blocks and pipeline, geology and geophysics data, plant & equipment list by location, CNG outlets, information of operator companies, personnel and human resources development information and the ability to store and manage financial information as needed.

Afterwards, the Union Minister and party drove stakes at the designated places.

The National Oil and Gas Information Centre (first phase) will include 24 Core Fibre Optic Cable, Geo-SCADA Software System, Video Wall System and Station Field Devices and Software and the second phase and the third phase will be implemented step by step in 2021-2022 financial year and 2022-2023 financial year respectively.
