Local authorities are planning to develop Khuepra (local name) or Shwe Taungtan area into a tourist attraction area.
With abundant natural beauties, the area is located at 35 miles near Dimawhso Township in Kayah State.
U Lin Zaw Htut, the officer of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism in Kayah State, said, “This area has potentials to become a tourism zone with the cultivation of coffee and avocado plants in this area.” Khuepra or Shwe Taungtan is situated at 5,840-ft altitude and its adjacent mountain, Sinphyutaung, is with about 5,100-ft height. The nearby forest reserves are the water resources for Kayah State.
“Some Kayan migrants have returned to home from Thailand due to COVID-19 crisis in the Kingdom. They have experiences in the tourism sector. We have proposed to the Kayah State government to set up a village for them. The village will be designed into a site of community-based tourism with agricultural projects,” the officer said.
Mountainous and scenic views, terrace farms, wooden houses and bungalows atop the mountains can be seen in Shwe Taungtan area, while the visitors are enjoying traditional foods.
