National Reconciliation and Peace Centre- NRPC donated cash assistance to the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19, yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw.

At the donation ceremony, Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor U Kyaw Tint Swe, in his capacity as the Deputy Chair of the NRPC said that he was very pleased to be able to donate to the COVID-19 central committee. He said the NRPC is at the forefront of the peace process by working with all ethnic armed groups on a policy of “leaving no one behind” in COVID-19 prevention and control as well as the COVID-19 central committee whose health workers are outstandingly at the forefront of public health. Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, in his capacity as the Secretary-General for the COVID-19 central committee, said he wished to achieve the peace sooner because it is crucial not only to ensure equal access to health care and public health services for people in remote and insecure areas but also to improve the country’s social and economic development.

He also added the effective management of the donations without wastage, and the donation is used for free treatment in hospitals and health care in quarantine centres as well as for upgrading medicines and medical equipment in hospitals, which has many benefits in the long run.

Afterwards, Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe handed over K300 million to Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe and received the certificate of honour.

The donation ceremony was also attended by Deputy Ministers U Khin Maung Tin and U Min Lwin, Dr Mya Lay Sein, the Permanent Secretary, Directors-General and officials.
