UNION Minister for Hotels and Tourism held the 4/2020 meeting of  Tourism  Committee,  led  by  Union  Minister  U  Ohn  Maung,  at  its  headquarters  in  Nay  Pyi  Taw yesterday.

eputy Minister U Tin Latt, members of region/state govern-ments, senior officials of MoHT, tourism experts and represent-atives of private travel agencies joined the meeting via videocon-ferencing.

The meeting focused on im-plementing  Myanmar  Tourism  Strategic  Recovery  Roadmap  (MTSRR),  which  was  jointly  drafted by the ministry, UN World Tourism  Organization  and  the  Luxembourg  Development  Co-operation (LuxDev) which is the Luxembourg Agency for Devel-opment Cooperation.

The Union Minister said that the ministry had finalized the MTSRR that includes recom-mendations of travel agencies for early recovery of the Myanmar tourism industry within two or three years.

Based  on  the  immediate,  medium and long term plans of MTSRR,  the  Regional  Master  Plan  will  be  adopted  for  the  re-spective areas.

The ministry will carry out Enchanting Myanmar Health and Safety Protocol (HSP) at the region, national and international levels.

The regional level commit-tees and the staff members of Ministry of Health and Sports are working for reopening of hotels and restaurants in line with the healthcare guidelines for ensur-ing Myanmar, a ‘safe-to-travel destination’ of international trav-ellers.

The Union Minister added that  Destination  Management  Organizations  (DMOs)  need  to  work for ensuring a safety tour-ism sector as this business is im-portant for regional development.

Director-General U Maung Maung  Kyaw  from  the  Directo-rate  of  Hotels  and  Tourism  dis-cussed  the  accomplishment  of  decisions in the 3/2020 meeting of the committee and other tourism development programmes.

Deputy Minister U Tin Latt, the secretary of the committee, briefed  on  conducting  tourism  training  courses  and  reports  from  the    region/state  govern-ments and travel agencies.

Myanmar has lifted domes-tic  flight  suspension  on  16  De-cember. The Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs  Association  has  organized the non-landing sight-seeing flight and the river cruise on 20 December, in coordination with  the  Ministry  of  Transport  and Communications.
