THE Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population organized a virtual opening ceremony of training in the Settlement of La-bour Disputes Law and capacity building for officials working in the Labour Relations Department yesterday afternoon.

Union Minister U Thein Swe, Deputy Minister U Myint Kyaing, Directors-General,  Deputy  Di-rectors-General,  trainers  from  the  Union  Attorney-General’s  Office and the Ministry, and offi-cials from the Labour Relations Department  participated  in  the  virtual ceremony.

The purpose of the training is to provide lectures related to the Second Amendment provi-sions to the Settlement of Labour Disputes Law. It is also aimed at making the trainees know and understand the provisions of the law and the by-laws as well as the relevant laws and regulations of the associated departments, according to the Union Minister.

The course will be conducted online  for  5  weeks,  said  the  Un-ion Minister, who added that the training would improve employ-er-employee relations and reduce labour disputes.

He said that township-levels need to effectively mediate be-tween employers and employees as much as they can, in order to reduce the number of labour dispute cases submitted to higher levels of the department.

He  said  labour  disputes  be-tween  employers  and  their  em-ployees need to be settled initially by  the  Workplace  Coordination  Committee (WCC), and the rele-vant township officials under the ministry  will  provide  assistance  in the process.

He also called on the officials to be accountable, have transpar-ency and high capacity. He urged them to work hard for the benefits of the country.

The Director-General of the Labour  Relations  Department  explained  the  training  in  detail.
