The Ministry of Health and Sports and Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation jointly held “Healthy and Happy Life in the New Normal Era” online seminar yesterday.
Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe, Deputy Minister Dr Mya Lay Sen, Director-General for Sports and Physical Education Department U Myo Hlaing, Deputy Directors-General U Tun Myint Oo, U Kyaw San and U Kyaw Oo, Chair for Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation Daw Khin Lay, Vice-Chair Daw Yi Yi Win, Head for Myanmar Women’s Sports Team (Kayin) Sub-committee Dr Thi Thi Win, Dr Ye Tint Lwin, Director for Sports and Physical Education Department (Sagaing) U Kyaw Min Than and other officials of relevant departments joined the seminar.
The Union Minister discussed suitable strategies for sector-wise development amid COVID-19 pandemic, proper action plans of ministry in respective sectors, efforts of Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation in physical activities for public health and suggestions how to conduct sports events or competition in the post-COVID-19 period.
He also highlighted the benefits of physical exercises, fitness dance programmes of Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation in each region and state under “Exercise is Medicine (EIM)” programme and participation of the public in physical exercise programmes especially in COVID-19 outbreak.
He briefed the plan of ministry to publish a book regarding the benefits of doing exercises in short- and long-term and then made a pledge to keep providing the Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation in their activities.
Deputy Minister Dr Mya Lay Sein, in her capacity as Patron of Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation discussed the performance of federation especially for women, expectant mothers and female athletes, plans to adopt New Normal Life-style and exercises to help boost the immune system, especially in COVID-19 outbreak.
She also explained the EIM programme which is being implemented by UN, WHO and IOC in addition to the Ministry of Health and Sports and Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation, the participation of people living any parts of Myanmar in holding sports events and new normal life-styles in New Normal Life Era.
Then, Chair of Myanmar Women’s Sports Federation Daw Khin Lay reported on missions, visions and performance of federation before COVID-19 outbreak and currently conducting action plans and other officials coordinated the discussion.
Deputy Minister also recommended cooperation with the Ministry of Information in conducting public awareness programmes, an online sports event for all children at any age and plans for the children with disabilities to join the competitions.
