The Rural Development Supervisory Committee held its 1st coordination meeting via videoconferencing yesterday.
Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Thu, in his capacity as the Chairman of Committee, chaired the meeting which was also attended by Deputy Minister U Hla Kyaw, committee members of 11 ministries and other invited experts. The Union Minister discussed the works of his committee in rural development programmes in coordination with the region/state governments, relevant ministries and experts.
He also explained that the ministry is focussing on the development of the competitive and sustainable system for agricultural produce, the multisectoral development in agriculture and livestock sector for promoting socio-economy of the country, increasing financial investment and input items, technology, market, rural infrastructural development, livelihood development and skill-building for rural people.
Director-General for Department of Rural Development U Khant Zaw, in his capacity as Committee Secretary, presented the sectors stated in rural development projects such as education, health, transport, electricity and energy, agriculture, livestock and vocational training development, environmental conservation and disaster management, planning and local and foreign aids, farmland management and cottage industry.
Officials of relevant ministries coordinated the meeting and Committee Chair, Vice-Chair and other officals discussed the cooperation among committee members including budget allocation for region, state, district and township level committees.
