Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi launched online celebrations to mark the 15th anniversary of West Yangon Technological University yesterday morning. At the ceremony, after wishing the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the university, he said the university has been providing human resource development to 12,330 B.Tech graduates, 11,545 BE/B.Arch graduates and 619 ME/M.Arch from 2005 to date.

The West Yangon Technological University held the first international research paper reading with local and international experts to support the development of the science and technology sector in 2018 and the second one in 2019. He said he is proud to see that the university established the Quality Management System in 2015 to provide quality assurance services to its engineers and architects and the university has become an AUN-QA Associate Member in 2018. The Union Minister added the importance of school-industry partnership to provide job opportunities for graduate students and the 8-week internship programmes of the final year students of the West Yangon Technological University.

He also urged the alumni to discuss and suggest the need of stakeholders, technologies and modern equipment used in the workplace and lessons taught at the university and the requirement for on-the-job training at their respective universities.
Afterwards, Chairman of the National Education Policy Commission Dr Myo Kywe gave a speech. A video clip was showed commemorating the 15th anniversary of the activities of the West Yangon Technological University, and Rector of the university Dr Kyi Soe expressed his gratitude.
