Union Attorney-General U Tun Tun Oo held an online seminar with the advocates general and law officers of the region and state offices yesterday.

The 8th edition of this meeting was held at the Union Attorney-General’s Office in Nay Pyi Taw. In his opening speech, the Union Attorney-General said that the Union Attorney-General’s Office has drafted and implemented “Towards Rule of Law” 2015-2019 Strategic Plan, and at present, “Legal Service for Justice” 2020-2024 Strategic Plan.

The strategic plan covers law counselling, prosecution process and five goals for the development of the judiciary, according to the Union Attorney-General. In 2019-2020, the Union Attorney-General’s Office was able to coordinate with the Department of Rule of Law and the Coordinating Committee for Justice. The guidebook on drafting bills has already been distributed to help regional Advocate-General Offices in scrutinizing and suggesting for bills, said the Union Attorney-General, who added that arrangements have been made for adding the facts related to corruption in scrutinizing and suggesting for the bill.

He said that law officers need to continually study on the amendment, cancellation and enactment of laws. He called on all law officers to obey the code of conduct and continuously learn to increase their capacities. The virtual meeting was participated by the Deputy Attorney-General, advocates-general of regions and states, the Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, Deputy Directors-General, Directors and law officers of region and state. The seminar will be held for two days until 16 December.
