Prime Minister of Thailand Mr Anutin Charnvirakul warmly welcomed President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing during his official visit to Thailand with a Guard of Honour ceremony at the Government House building in Bangkok yesterday morning.
Upon the arrival of the special motorcade carrying President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing at the lawn in front of the Government House building, Thai Prime Minister Mr Anutin Charnvirakul warmly welcomed and greeted him.
They took a salute of the Guard of Honour of the Royal Thai Armed Forces while the national anthems of both countries were played.
They saluted the flag of the Guard of Honour and inspected the Guard of Honour. They introduced their respective entourages to each other.
Afterwards, the President of Myanmar paid respects to the royal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand, and signed the Guests’ Book at the Government House of Thailand.
The President of Myanmar and the Thai Prime Minister held a separate meeting at the reception hall of the Government House together with Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi and U Tin Maung Swe, Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Zaw Zaw Soe and officials.
At the meeting, they cordially exchanged views on political progress in Myanmar, bilateral cooperation in peace and stability of border regions between the two countries and peace process, anti-online gambling and scam activities, combatting illegal border trade measures, cooperation on preventing transboundary haze and river water pollution, and energy sectors, the plans of Myanmar to continuously sustain positive and beneficial cooperation with ASEAN and further cooperation with
each ASEAN member state based on existing friendly relations, and the enhancement of friendly relations and strategic partnership cooperation between the two countries.
After the meeting, the President of Myanmar and the Thai Prime Minister
cordially greeted each other.
