THE Steering Committee on Implementing Agricultural and Rural Development Project (JICA, Two-Step Loan) held a meeting via videoconferencing yesterday.

Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Maung Maung Win, in his capacity as the chairman of the steering committee, discussed the benefits from Phase I of JICA, Two-Step Loan conducted with K200 billion in 2017 for the farmers, plans of JICA to provide the needed technology and capital amount for agriculture and livestock sectors in Phase II like Phase I.

The deputy minister added JICA loans comply with the country’s economic policies, MERRP (Myanmar Economic Recovery and Reform Plan) and CERP (COVID-19 Economic Plan), the draft of an action plan to provide the whole supply chain and to produce value-added products using machinery instead of traditional production methods for food security and exports, Comprehensive Master Plan of Myanma Agriculture Development Bank (MADB) which is serving as Executing Agency for JICA project and cooperation works of relevant departments for the success of JICA Two-Step Loan.

Managing Director for MADB U Min Thu presented the completion of JICA Two-Step Loan Phase I and action plans for Phase II while the official of JICA Head Office briefed the loan for Phase II and other work plans.

The meeting was attended by the officials from the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, JICA Myanmar Head Office, JICA Head Office and JICA Consultant.
