A Myanmar delegation led by Dr Ye Tint Htun, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, returned to Yangon on 8 June following a five-day official visit to Belarus to promote trade and technological cooperation.

During bilateral meetings with Belarusian agricultural and small industry officials, the two nations agreed to expand trade and explore investments. Key focus areas included exporting Myanmar frozen shrimp, Arabica coffee, cotton, and tropical fruits, while importing Belarusian meat and dairy products. The sides also discussed joint agro-industrial ventures in oilseed processing, textile production, sugar manufacturing, and agricultural machinery.

To study advanced manufacturing processes, the delegation attended the 36th International Specialized Exhibition and toured state-run facilities, including potato, sugar, canola, and textile factories. The visit concluded with meetings with officials from four major academic institutions, including the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, to establish scientific partnerships and launch a student exchange programme between the two nations’ agricultural universities.
