THE 22nd Myanmar-Thailand Bilateral Meeting on Drug Control Cooperation was held via videoconferencing yesterday morning.
Myanmar delegation led by Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control Secretary Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police LtGen Aung Win Oo and Thailand’s Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Secretary-General Mr Wichai Chaimongkhon and party attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the increase of illegal drug production and trade especially sea route while each of the countries imposes travel restriction during COVID-19 pandemic, the moves of drug smugglers by taking advance of the global change process and various situation, efforts of Myanmar to show off good results on the Target of Political Declaration and Plan of Action released during 62nd CND meeting, the seizures of P2P that does not contain precursor chemicals under joint operation of Myanmar-Thailand, further cooperation in the study of chemistry and chemical reactions which can be used in producing drugs, information to provide the sectors in fight drug abuses, the readiness of Myanmar to cooperate with the world countries, regional organizations and international organizations for anti-drug measures and suggestions for further cooperation and programmes in addition to joint drug control operations.
Then, Mr Wichai Chaimongkhon made a greeting speech and briefed anti-drug activities, Operation 1511, reviews of 21st meeting, further cooperation, preventive measures for illegal precursor chemicals, drug gangs, information exchange regarding fugitive on drugs, safe Mekong operation project, cooperation work for sustainable development and the date and designated place to hold the 23rd meeting.
