UNION Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe held an online meeting with the delegation of the EuroCham Myanmar Garment Advocacy Group, led by Ms Karina Ufert and Mr Serkan Tanka yesterday.

The meeting focused on the improvement of Myanmar sustainable development and skill buildings in the garment industry.

The Union Minister discussed cooperation with the EuroCham Myanmar in getting technical advice, skill development programme, supports in vocational training and plans for the development of skills.

He also talked about the requirement of assistance from the EuroCham Myanmar in these sectors, the cooperation of his ministry with other relevant ministries for intermediate level management skills, long-term policy for nurturing garment and textile engineers to develop FOB system from the present CMP system and further cooperation of EuroCham Myanmar.

The Union Minister also sought technical advice and cooperation of the EuroCham Myanmar to work with other countries, relevant state agencies and development partnered organizations.

He also discussed drafting labour laws with the participation of ILO experts and the parliament to meet international standards, holding regular meetings with the EuroCham Myanmar, adopting a concrete plan in coordination with garment entrepreneur associations, UMFCCI and relevant ministries.

Ms Karina Ufert and Mr Serkan Tanka then made their discussions about improvement in the sustainable development of Myanmar and skill development in the garment industry.
