UNION Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint joined the 2020 Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Media Online Summit yesterday.
The summit was also taken part by media officials from China, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and Viet Nam via videoconferencing.
Mr Huang Kunming, the Member of Secretariat and the Head of the Publicity Department of Communist Party of China delivered an opening remark.
Union Minister Dr Pe Myint discussed the basic pillars of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation as the first pillar is concerned with cooperation in politics and security, the second one with cooperation in economy and sustainable development, and the third one with social, cultural and people-to-people relations.
He also said the media cooperation among Mekong-Lancang member countries could promote bilateral relations and could show off the advantages of the region to the world while the media sector is acting as a bridge among the member countries.
The Union Minister presented the media campaign for Mekong-Lancang cooperation, arts and photo exhibition on 26 March in 2019 and the display of photos.
He added that the Mekong-Lancang cooperation played an essential role in the region and wished for lasting cooperation of the member countries like Mekong River.
Permanent Secretary of U Myo Myint Maung and senior media officials from member countries made discussions.
Awards for photo contest under the title of ‘Colourful Lancang-Mekong’ were presented at the event.
Director-General of MRTV U Ye Naing and officials from the member countries discussed topics of the Regional and International Cooperation in Combatting COVID-19 and the Boosting Economy Recovery: Focus, Patience and Mechanism.
