Yangon Region Government inaugurated Gyobyu and Theingon power sub-stations in Taikkyi Township yesterday, taking a step forward in meeting 100 per cent electrification in the region by December 2020.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Deputy Speaker U Lin Naing Myint, Yangon Region Minister for Electricity, Industry, Transport and Communication Daw Nilar Kyaw, Yangon Region ministers, Pyithu Hluttaw representatives, Region Hluttaw representatives, Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation’s chairman, officials and staff, invited guests and local people attended the opening ceremony of the power sub-stations.

Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, and Region Hluttaw representative-1 U Tin Shein first unveiled the stone plaque first unveiled the stone plaque of the 33/11 kV, 5MVA Gyobyu Power sub-station in Taikkyi Township, and inspected the power sub-station.

The Chief Minister and party then attended the opening ceremony of 33/11 kV, 5MVA Theingon Power sub-station in Okkan, Taikkyi Township.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of Theingon Power sub-station, the Chief Minister said a total of 13 power sub-stations were built in Yangon Region during 2019-2020 FY. Of them, 6 power sub-stations are in northern Yangon District.

Out of the six stations, the two power sub-stations of Yekyaw and Warnet Chaung in Hmawbi Township, and another two of Kyutaw and Thetthitkyun in Htantabin Township have been commissioned into service, and the last two of Gyobyu and Theingon were opened yesterday. All of the sub-stations are 33/11 KV, 5 MVA.

There was only one power sub-station in Taikkyi Township in the past, and the opening of the two new power sub-stations will benefit 800 households in 12 villages, he added. Yangon Region Hluttaw representative U Lwin Soe Min expressed thanks for opening of the power sub-station.

Afterwards, Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, and Region Hluttaw representative U Lwin Soe Min unveiled the stone plaque of 33/11 kV, 5MVA Theingon Power sub-station, and inspected inside the power sub-station.
