A total of 129 Myanmar nationals who were stranded in Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) because of suspension of commercial flights — 120 seamen and other 9 nationals — returned home yesterday morning by the 7th relief flight of China Airlines organized by the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Hong Kong.
Moreover, a total of 109 Myanmar seamen also returned home in the same evening by a relief of Myanmar Airways International organized by the Embassy of Myanmar in Seoul and Myanmar Maritime Workers’ Federation. They are 82 from the Republic of Korea, 15 from Doha, 2 from UAE, 1 from Taiwan, 6 from Egypt and 3 from Turkey. The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Yangon Region government arranged 7-day quarantine at specific places or designated hotels, followed by the 7-day home quarantine.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with the relevant ministries, its missions in foreign countries and shipping companies and organizations for the repatriation of citizens abroad in accordance with the guidelines of the National-Level Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19.
