I respectfully extend my greetings and best wishes for the full attainment of all auspiciousness to all esteemed voters, people, and national brethren. I am Min Aung Htoo, a Central Executive Committee member of the Mon Unity Party (MUP). First of all, I would like to say that I am pleased to have this opportunity to present on behalf of the Mon Unity Party (MUP).

In the multiparty democratic general election to be held on 28 December, a total of 38 candidates from our party will compete in all constituencies of Mon State.

As the selection of voters is crucial for our political parties to serve the interests of the State and the people in pursuit of the political stances and policies of parties, I would like to present the political visions, policies and work procedures in brief of our party to the people.

The Mon Unity Party (MUP) is a political party representing ethnic people. Although it is a party to operates its activities in just Mon State, I believe that we can play an important role in the political process of building a Union based on peace and a federal system. Such a Union will be peaceful and prosperous for all ethnic groups politically. Hence, I would like to express our belief that our party can participate in the important sector of the political process of building the Union.

Esteemed people and national brethren,

At a time when the country is facing political tensions and various forms of conflict, there will naturally be differing views and reactions regarding the upcoming election. The Mon Unity Party (MUP) believes that we must navigate the political developments, setbacks, challenges, and the shifting realities – whether favourable or unfavourable – in ways that minimize harm to the nation and its people, and find solutions to move forward. The Mon Unity Party (MUP) will continue to work diligently towards our ultimate political goal so as to build a peaceful and harmonious Union for all citizens.

The Mon Unity Party (MUP) will compete in the upcoming election to help solve the political, economic and social difficulties not only voting people from Mon State but all ethnic people from the Union face in order to stand as a strong political party on which the people can rely.

I would like to submit my presentation in summary on the policy and work procedures of the Mon Unity Party (MUP) for serving the interests of the State and the people….

In the political sector, our party aims to strengthen the multiparty democratic system and to work together on constitutional amendments and other necessary measures toward building a Union based on democracy and a federal system, thereby upholding justice, freedom, and equality in line with universal values. In addition, we will continue to support and advance ongoing peace processes.

In the economic sector, we will work to modernize the agricultural sector and to systematically produce industrial raw materials, including locally produced rubber as well as finished goods. We aim to expand job opportunities, improve transport and connectivity, promote economic projects linked to international markets, develop the energy sector, and increase the production and use of renewable energy. In addition to these priorities, we will also implement other necessary programmes.

In the social sector, we will emphasize encouragement to initiate an all-inclusive healthcare system with equal rights for the people from rural and urban areas, operating the elderly care and those with disabilities, improvement of the healthcare standard at hospitals and clinics, and safety for foodstuffs. With regard to the education sector, we will help implement the literacy campaign for all people and the free compulsory basic education system while encouraging the private education system to meet the set standards. In addition, we will work to support the enhancement of higher education and professional education to meet the international standard.

Moreover, we will participate in the development of women and youth sectors in various ways and means. Furthermore, we will manage environmental conservation, protection of mangrove forests, prevention of natural disasters, relief and rescue measures and rehabilitation efforts in time.

In the ethnic nationalities sector, we will help formulate necessary laws and rules in order to protect and uplift the rights of ethnic groups while placing emphasis on the improvement of customs and traditions of ethnic groups.

Finally, our Mon Unity Party (MUP) will work together with ethnic nationalities across the country to achieve nationwide peace and to build a Union based on democracy and a federal system for all Mon people living throughout Myanmar, as well as for all national brethren. With the support of voters and the cooperation of relevant stakeholders, we will continue implementing the policies and programmes outlined above. Regardless of the outcome of the election, the Mon Unity Party (MUP) will continue to carry out its policy and programmes in the interest of the people, the region, and the country.

Whatever challenges or difficulties may arise, I, on behalf of the Mon Unity Party (MUP), would like to urge all our national brethren to support the Mon Unity Party (MUP), which does not shy away from political responsibilities and to join us in taking the first collective steps toward meaningful change.
